Sumario:The current model of economic development is questioning the sustainability of the planet and the survival of the human species. In this context, environmental education becomes a key to reversing environmental degradation axis, which forces to intensify efforts in all areas of individual and social to change the current model of development work. The general purpose of this work was to study the current status of non-formal environmental education institutions, organizations and stakeholders in the community of La Libertad, Santa Cruz, Cajamarca region, proposing as an alternative to change a proposal for training enables the preparation thereof to interact with the environment under the principles of sustainable development. The research methodology was qualitative, the Community Forum, Brainstorming, workshops with the population and interviews was used and the SWOT analysis was also performed. Research conducted from the perspective of research-participatory action has relied on the use of a set of theoretical, empirical and statistical, very interrelated methods, which facilitated raise research for a participatory diagnosis and characterization of community. The diagnostic results show that the main environmental problem of the community is deforestation due to lack of training of local decision-makers on environmental issues, it concluded drafting a proposal for training in non-formal environmental education.
