Descripción
Sumario:The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of temperature on the reaction rate of 1-fenilbutan-1-ona and ethylene glycol in the synthesis of 2-phenyl-2-propyl-1.3-dioxolano. The study was performed by determining the chemical kinetics of reaction speed at different temperatures 50 °c and 70 °c. According to this method, we submit to the reactants in an acidic medium with a light organic solvent (benzene). then the distillation equipment was installed a reflux with light solvent separator at a temperature of 50 and 70 °c; until a constant volume of water is obtained from the chemical reaction; getting the product. the following results were obtained: percentage of practical performance of the cetal (2-phenyl-2-propyl-1.3-dioxolano) is 60% and 64% respectively, boiling point was 228 ° c, density at 22 °c was 1,057; refractive index 1,623; the activation energy of 5,321 kcal/mol, the average life time at 50 °c and 70 °c is 0.64 and 0.48 hours. According to the chemical and physical methods of the synthesized cetal it was determined that it is the 2- phenyl-2-propyl-1.3-dioxolano the kinetic study shows that the reaction follows a behavior of first order
