Material and Methods: This is a descriptive study that included 174 clinical histories pf patients with acute myocardial infarction attended on Regional Hospital of Trujillo and Belen Hospital of Trujillo during the period January 2009 - December 2013. Clinical characteristics were determined and a comparison between male and female groups. Results and Conclusions: From the review of 174 clinical histories, most of them were man. The average age of presentation was higher for women. Hypertension and smoking predominate in man. Killip score type I was associated to male gender. The most frequent localization was anterior, followed by anteroseptal and inferior, without gender differences. The elevation of the ST segment was more frequent, without gender differences. Complications were all intrahospital pneumonias and no relation was found to gender.

Material y Método: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo que incluyó 174 historias clínicas de pacientes con diagnóstico de infarto agudo de miocardio atendidos en el Hospital Regional Docente de Trujillo y el Hospital Belén de Trujillo entre el 2009 y 2013. Se determinaron las características clínicas de los pacientes atendidos y se comparó los resultados entre varones y mujeres. Resultados y Conclusiones: De las 174 historias revisadas, el mayor porcentaje fue de los varones. La edad promedio de presentación fue mayor en caso del género femenino. La hipertensión y el tabaquismo predominaron en mayor medida en caso de los varones. En la escala de Killip, Predomino el tipo I, encontrándose mayor asociación al género masculino. La localización más frecuente fue la anterior, seguida de la anteroseptal y la inferior, sin diferencias entre géneros. Predominó el infarto agudo de miocardio con elevación del segmento ST, sin diferencias entre géneros.
