Sumario:The general objective of the present research was to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and leadership in heads of the Regional Hospital of Loreto, 2020. This being a quantitative study, descriptive-correlational design, for which it has been taken into account a sample of 42 chiefs who for convenience have been considered the entire population; Given this, for data collection the survey has been used as a technique and the questionnaire as an instrument, which after analyzing the results has been able to conclude that the emotional intelligence of the heads of the Regional Hospital of Loreto in 2020 is rated at a medium level (48%), this is due to the fact that these people have difficulties to adequately manage intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships, they have difficulties to adapt, to manage stress and difficulties to control their mood in general. At the same time, the leadership of the bosses is rated at a medium level (48%), given this, the punitive generative leadership has a medium rating, the nurturing and rational generative leadership have a low rating, and the free emotional leadership, emotional unruly and docile have an average rating. Finally, it is determined that there is a relationship between emotional intelligence and leadership in the heads of the Regional Hospital of Loreto in 2020, an instance that is contrasted by a significance of 0.000 and a correlation coefficient (Spearman's Rho) of 0.876 which is high positive.
