Sumario:Supracondylar humeral fractures are the most common elbow injuries in the pediatric population. It accounts for approximately 16% of all pediatric fractures and nearly 60% of hospitalizations for elbow-associated injuries. The ages with the highest incidence range between 5 and 8 years. They are related to complications such as wandering union, neurovascular damage and compartment syndrome. Research in the context of pediatric fractures is transcendent, since the bone structure in these age groups has a great potential for growth and remodeling. Diagnose and provide timely management once the degree of fracture has been defined. For this, it is also necessary to recognize what factors can intervene in complications during optimal management. Various factors have conditioned poor results in the approach to this pathology. The literature mentions obesity, time to operation >8 hours, Gartland type III, high-intensity trauma, and/or body mass index. The present work aims to answer what are the sociodemographic and clinical characteristics of supracondylar humeral fractures in pediatric patients of the Regional Hospital of Loreto 2018 - 2020. A descriptive, observational and retrospective study will be carried out. The study population will be patients with an age range between 1 year and 15 years diagnosed with supracondylar fracture of the humerus in the emergency room of the Regional Hospital of Loreto between the years 2018 and 2020. For the presentation of the information, tables will be used. and statistical graphs. The general characteristics of the patients will be studied with descriptive statistics. The numerical variables will include measures of central tendency: mean, mode and median. It is essential to know the characteristics of patients who come to the emergency room with humeral supracondylar fractures, in order to generate basic information to later expand to the study of factors associated with various complications. Sociodemographic, imaging and other factors associated with the severity of the injury should be included. This will make it possible to influence them, improve the prognosis with great expectation, provide comprehensive support in the surgical environment and prioritize decision-making for better results.
