Sumario: | Unfavorable outcomes in tuberculosis (TB) treatment represent a significant public health issue. The aim of this study was to identify factors associated with unfavorable outcomes in the treatment of drug-sensitive and multidrug resistant (MDR) TB, as well as to georeferenced MDR TB patients in Iquitos. A retrospective and cross-sectional cohort study was conducted using data collected from the Tuberculosis Management Information System (SIGTB) between 2015 and 2019. Unfavorable outcomes were defined as treatment abandonment, failure, and death. The sample consisted of 3,601 drug sensitive TB patients and 65 MDR TB patients. Data were analyzed using binary and multivariate logistic regression with a 95% confidence level and a p-value<0.05) were associated with unfavorable outcomes in drugsensitive TB treatment. Regarding MDR TB, TB-HIV coinfection was associated with death (p-value <0.05). Additionally, MDR TB cases were primarily concentrated in the district of Iquitos. In conclusion, the results suggest multiple factors predispose to unfavorable treatment outcomes, highlighting the need for improved intervention strategies and TB control measures in the Loreto region. |
