The main objective of this research was to determine the type of relationship between regional competitiveness and human development in the department of Loreto. For this purpose, a research with a quantitative approach of descriptive and correlational scope, and a non experimental design with longitudinal data collection was applied. The sample was made up of five years within the period from 2012 to 2021, from which data on both variables were extracted from secondary and official sources. The central hypothesis is that the relationship is positive. The results show a value for Pearson of 0.917 with a p value of 0.028; Likewise, in all dimensions of competitiveness the values are low, and even lower in health and education. Therefore, it is concluded that there is a high positive relationship between regional competitiveness and human development, and that this is significant. It is recommended that regional authorities prioritize in the concerted regional development plan objectives and strategic actions to close gaps in the deficient dimensions of regional competitiveness in such a way that human development is improved in the department of Loreto
