Descripción
Sumario:This study, with a quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive, explanatory, and analytical approach, analyzed the attitudes and behaviors of residents and visitors of the Tarapacá Boardwalk (Iquitos) regarding visual pollution from solid waste. The research was conducted at nine critical waste accumulation points, interviewing 40 passersby selected through non-probability sampling. A 26-item structured survey was administered, with acceptable reliability (Cronbach's α = 0.709). The Shapiro-Wilk test showed normal distribution for the variables Social Perception and Actions (p > 0.05), and non-normality for Waste Management Behaviors and Satisfaction Level (p < 0.05). Spearman's correlation was used for inferential analysis. The results indicate that the majority perceive visual pollution as a serious and recurring problem, affecting the quality of life and experience in urban spaces. Although there are concern and moderate willingness to participate in solutions, translation into concrete actions is limited, with inconsistent practices persisting, such as low participation in community cleanup and low waste reduction. The level of satisfaction with municipal measures is predominantly neutral or low, especially in aspects of infrastructure, environmental education, and the application of sanctions. A significant relationship was identified between actions, management behaviors, and satisfaction levels, suggesting that active participation is associated with a higher appreciation of management. However, a high perception of the problem is not directly linked to pro-environmental behaviors, highlighting the need to strengthen citizen awareness and motivation strategies.
