Maestría en EntomologíaLa presente investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar cómo afecta el daño ocasionado por Hydrellia wirthi Linnaeus sobre el rendimiento del cultivo de arroz (Oryza sativa Linnaeus) en tres variedades comerciales: IR43, Mallares y Tinajones, bajo condiciones agroecológicas de la región Lambayeque. Se desarrolló un estudio de tipo aplicado, con enfoque cuantitativo y diseño experimental factorial 3×5, evaluando cinco niveles de infestación (0 %, 10 %, 20 %, 40 % y 100 %) y tres variedades de arroz, en un total de 45 unidades experimentales conducidas en el fundo Zapote Figueroa. Se evaluaron variables agronómicas como número de macollos, porcentaje de macollos afectados, conteo de larvas, número de panojas, porcentaje de granos llenos, peso de mil granos y rendimiento por hectárea. El análisis de varianza reveló que tanto los efectos simples como la interacción entre factores fueron estadísticamente significativos (p < 0.01) sobre el rendimiento. Tinajones evidenció una marcada susceptibilidad, reduciendo su rendimiento de 14.99 t/ha a 7.93 t/ha entre los niveles extremos de daño. En contraste, Mallares alcanzó un rendimiento máximo de 15.45 t/ha con un 10 % de daño, manteniendo una mejor tolerancia frente a niveles crecientes de afectación. IR43 presentó una respuesta más estable, con una menor variación entre tratamientos y rendimientos intermedios. Se concluye que el rendimiento del arroz está significativamente condicionado por el nivel de daño de H. wirthi y por la variedad cultivada, siendo Tinajones la más afectada, y Mallares e IR43 las más tolerantes. Es fundamental considerar ambos factores para una adecuada gestión fitosanitaria y selección varietal.This research aimed to determine the effect of damage caused by Hydrellia wirthi Linnaeus on the yield of three commercial rice (Oryza sativa L.) varieties: IR43, Mallares, and Tinajones, under the agroecological conditions of the Lambayeque region. An applied, quantitative study was conducted using a 3×5 factorial experimental design, which evaluated five damage levels (0%, 10%, 20%, 40%, and 100%) across the three varieties, totaling 45 experimental units located at the Sapote Figueroa farm. Agronomic variables such as the number of tillers, percentage of affected tillers, larval count, number of panicles, percentage of filled grains, thousand-grain weight, and yield per hectare were assessed. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed that both the main effects and their interaction were statistically significant (p < 0.01) on yield. Tinajones was the most susceptible variety, with yields decreasing from 14.99 t/ha (chemical control, 0% damage) to 7.93 t/ha at 100% damage. In contrast, Mallares achieved its highest yield (15.45 t/ha) at 10% damage, demonstrating greater tolerance. IR43 displayed intermediate and more stable performance across damage levels. It is concluded that rice yield is significantly influenced by both the level of H. wirthi damage and the cultivated variety.
