Departamento Académico de Ingeniería Ambiental, Física y MeteorologíaEl crecimiento abrupto de los sistemas de telecomunicaciones y radiodifusión, y el consecuente incremento de la energía electromagnética en la atmósfera, ha generado dudas, inquietud e inseguridad en la población respecto de la interacción entre los organismos vivientes, en especial, en los seres humanos, y el electromagnetismo. En el Perú, esta preocupación se ve reflejada en la alta frecuencia de denuncias ambientales realizadas por la población ante las entidades gubernamentales, respecto de los posibles efectos de las radiaciones electromagnéticas provenientes de infraestructura de los sistemas de telecomunicaciones y radiodifusión que cada vez se instalan más cerca a sus hogares. Es así que el presente trabajo tiene como objetivo evaluar los niveles de Radiaciones No Ionizantes (RNI) en el centro de la ciudad de Huancayo del departamento de Junín. Para este fin, se desarrolló la siguiente metodología: (i) Diseño de la medición de RNI en el centro de la ciudad de Huancayo, (ii) Medición de las RNI a través de un procedimiento estructurado, (iii) Comparación de los niveles de RNI obtenidos con los Estándares de Calidad Ambiental para Radiaciones No Ionizantes, aprobados mediante Decreto Supremo Nº 010-2005-PCM (ECA) y finalmente (iv) comparar los niveles de RNI emitidos por los sistemas de telecomunicaciones y radiodifusión. Los resultados, al igual que la bibliografía consultada, muestran que todos los valores medidos de Densidad de Potencia, Intensidad de Campo Eléctrico e Intensidad de Campo Magnético se encuentran muy por debajo del límite establecido por el ECA y por los estándares internacionales. No obstante, a diferencia de la bibliografía relacionada y de la percepción de la población, el porcentaje de cumplimiento del ECA es mejor en los sistemas de telecomunicaciones que en los sistemas de radiodifusión. Esta diferencia de resultados se explica en la diferente metodología de medición de RNI ya que el presente TSP se analizó de manera totalizadora y (a diferencia de las creencias de la población) al aumento de la densidad de antenas de telecomunicaciones en el área de estudio.The abrupt growth of telecommunications and broadcasting systems, and the consequent increase in electromagnetic energy in the atmosphere, has generated doubts, concern and insecurity in the population regarding the interaction between living organisms, especially human beings, and electromagnetism. In Peru, this concern is reflected in the high frequency of environmental complaints made by the population to government entities, regarding the possible effects of electromagnetic radiation from the infrastructure of telecommunications and broadcasting systems that are increasingly being installed close to their homes. Thus, the present work aims to evaluate the levels of Non-Ionizing Radiations (RNI) in the center of the city of Huancayo in the department of Junín. For this purpose, the following methodology was developed: (i) Desing of the RNI measurement in the center of the city of Huancayo, (ii) Measurement of RNI through a structured procedure, (iii) Comparison of the levels of RNI obtained with the Environmental Quality Standards for Non-Ionizing Radiations, approved by Decreto Supremo N° 010-2005-PCM (ECA) and finally (iv) comparing the levels of RNI emitted by telecommunications and broadcasting systems. The results, as well as the bibliography consulted, show that all the measured values of Power Density, Electric Field Intensity and Magnetic Field Intensity are well below the limit established by the ECA and by international standards. However, unlike the related literature and the perception of the population, the percentage of compliance with the ECA is better in telecommunications systems than in broadcasting systems.
