Doctorado en Agricultura SustentableLos objetivos del estudio fueron determinar los principales componentes del sistema de innovación y los mecanismos que inciden en el uso de plaguicidas entre los horticultores del valle de Chancay-Huaral; caracterizar el uso de los plaguicidas agrícolas, los riesgos de intoxicación, estimar el impacto ambiental que genera su uso y determinar la sustentabilidad social de los horticultores usuarios de los plaguicidas. El estudio se realizó debido a la contaminación de las hortalizas según el monitoreo de contaminantes en alimentos agrícolas realizado anualmente por el SENASA, los reportes de intoxicaciones por plaguicidas registrados por el MINSA y el desconocimiento sobre el funcionamiento de un sistema de un sistema de innovación para el uso de plaguicidas. Se utilizó la metodología bola de nieve en la identificación de componentes del sistema de innovación; para el impacto ambiental de los plaguicidas se utilizó el método EIQ (Environmental Impact Quotient); y para la sostenibilidad social se aplicó el análisis multicriterio. Según los resultados, el sistema de innovación en el uso de plaguicidas tiene baja participación del gobierno y alta presencia del sector privado vinculado a la comercialización de plaguicidas agrícolas; los horticultores se caracterizan por carecer de un conocimiento mínimo de manejo de plaguicidas, el uso excesivo de plaguicidas por campaña y en mezclas sin medidas de protección apropiadas permitiendo la participación familiar al momento de las aplicaciones generando riesgos de intoxicación entre sus miembros, entre los trabajadores, contaminando los productos hortícolas y el ambiente donde se producen; carecen de conciencia ecológica y no reciben capacitación sobre el uso adecuado de plaguicidas. Se encontró altos valores de impacto ambiental por el uso de plaguicidas en las principales hortalizas del valle; y un indicador de sostenibilidad social bajo.The objectives of the study were to determine the main components of the innovation system and the mechanisms that affect the use of pesticides among horticulturists in the ChancayHuaral valley, to characterize the use of agricultural pesticides, the risks of intoxication, to estimate the environmental impact generated by their use and to determine the social sustainability of horticulturists who use pesticides. The study was carried out due to the contamination of the vegetables according to the monitoring of contaminants in agricultural foods carried out annually by SENASA, the reports of poisoning by pesticides registered by the MINSA, and the lack of knowledge about the operation of a system of an innovation system for the use of pesticides. The snowball methodology was used to identify the components of the innovation system; for the environmental impact of pesticides, the EIQ (Environmental Impact Quotient) method was used; and for social sustainability, multicriteria analysis was applied. According to the results, the innovation system in the use of pesticides has low government participation and a high presence of the private sector linked to the commercialization of agricultural pesticides; Horticulturists are characterized by a lack of minimal knowledge of pesticide management, the excessive use of pesticides per crop season and in mixtures without appropriate protection measures, allowing family participation at the time of spraying, generating risks of intoxication among their members, among workers. , contaminating horticultural products and the environment where they are produced; they lack ecological awareness and do not receive training on the proper use of pesticides.
