Departamento Académico de EntomologíaDurante muchos años, el algarrobo ha sido una fuente importante de ingresos para los habitantes de Tecapa, sin embargo, desde el año 2010, se han registrado dos plagas que son las principales causantes de la declinación del algarrobo en todo el norte del país. Una de ellas fue identificada como Heteropsylla texana Crawford, la otra plaga es un Cecidomyiidae aún no identificado. Este trabajo de investigación desarrollado en el Bosque Cañoncillo – Pacasmayo durante los meses de enero-marzo, tiene como objetivos identificar al Cecidomyiidae que infesta las hojas del algarrobo, determinar su ocurrencia estacional e identificar los enemigos naturales de esta plaga. Luego de la colecta de larvas y adultos, se hicieron micropreparados en el Museo de Entomología Klaus Raven Büller y se identificó a la especie plaga como Enallodiplosis discordis Gagné. Para la evaluación en campo, se dividió al bosque en 5 sectores y en cada sector se hizo una evaluación al azar, eligiendo 5 árboles diferentes por evaluación. A su vez, cada árbol se dividió en dos estratos (superior e inferior), de cada estrato se tomaron 4 ramas, de ellas se evaluaron brotes, hojas intermedias e inferiores. Se determinó que las larvas de esta especie infestan el algarrobo, se alimentan raspando los foliolos que posteriormente se marchitan y dada la distribución temporal y espacial que posee esta plaga, es una de las principales causantes de la declinación del algarrobo en el Bosque Cañoncillo. También se observó, que las precipitaciones en la zona juegan un papel importante en el número de individuos de esta plaga, los cuales se encuentra en su mayoría, en el estrato inferior del algarrobo, además se observó al coccinellidae Paraneda pallidula guticollis Mulsant como un predador de las larvas de este Cecidomyiidae, cuya eficiencia se deberá evaluar en estudios posteriores.For many years, the carob tree has been an important source of income for the inhabitants of Tecapa, however, since 2010, there have been two pests that are the main causes of the decline of the carob tree throughout the north of the country.
