description La migración de los jóvenes de áreas rurales a las ciudades está relacionada directamente con la búsqueda de oportunidades laborales y educativas, problemática abordada en esta investigación desde la capacidad de emprendimiento de los jóvenes en edad escolar para identificar o crear oportunidades de desarrollo y superación personal desde sus lugares de origen y evitar emigrar a las ciudades. Se aplicó una escala de medición de la habilidad emprendedora en tres instituciones educativas de zona rural de Chontalí (Jaén, Cajamarca) que permitió identificar la capacidad de innovación, libertad, autoconfianza, asunción de riesgos y planificación, cuyos resultados bastante alentadores se describen en este trabajo.
