La muestra estuvo conformada por 73.30% hombres y 26.70% mujeres. se pudo concluir que los modos de afrontamiento más resaltantes en los pacientes que viven con el VIH/SIDA son la búsqueda de apoyo social (74.17%), la búsqueda de apoyo emocional (58.33%), aceptación (81.67%), análisis de las emociones (77.50%), así como también conductas inadecuadas (63.33%). Estos resultados apoyaron la elaboración del programa de intervención que estuvo desarrollada por 09 sesiones para lograr una salud mental adecuada en los pacientes de VIH/SIDA del Hospital San José de Chincha.

In which, the sample consisted of 120 patients. The instrument that was used was the Carver Stress Modeling Questionnaire. The sample consisted of 73.30% men and 26.70% women. It was concluded that the most outstanding coping modes in patients living with HIV / AIDS are the search for social support (74.17%), the search for emotional support (58.33%), acceptance (81.67%), analysis of the emotions (77.50%), as well as inadequate behavior (63.33%).
