La investigación fue tipo básica, diseño no experimental, transversal y descriptivo correlacional, cuya población fue de 180 073 habitantes y muestra fue de 246. La técnica de recolección de datos fue la encuesta y como instrumento el cuestionario. Los resultados determinaron que el nivel de gestión ambiental fue regular en 54 %, el desarrollo local fue regular en 50 %. Concluyendo que existe relación significativa entre la gestión ambiental con el desarrollo local de la Municipalidad Provincial de San Martin, 2021, ya que el análisis estadístico del coeficiente de correlación de Rho de Spearman fue de 0,994 (correlación positiva muy alta) y un p valor igual a 0,000 (p-valor ≤ 0.01).
