description El presente estudio tiene como objetivo general analizar el impacto de la inclusión de la tauromaquia dentro del marco legal de protección animal en Perú. Los objetivos específicos incluyen: i) investigar el contexto histórico y cultural de la tauromaquia en Perú, ii) evaluar la efectividad y alcance de la Ley N° 30407 en la protección animal, y iii) analizar las implicaciones legales y éticas de la inclusión de la tauromaquia en esta ley. Esta investigación cualitativa, de tipo fenomenológico, busca comprender las percepciones y significados asociados a la tauromaquia y la legislación animal, utilizando entrevistas semiestructuradas a abogados y el análisis documental comparativo de normativas de otros países. Los principales resultados indican que, aunque la Ley N° 30407 representa un avance en la protección animal, su exclusión de la tauromaquia genera tensiones éticas y legales. La comparación con leyes de países como Argentina, Bolivia y Chile muestra enfoques diversos que ofrecen alternativas para la legislación peruana. Concluimos que, si bien la tauromaquia tiene arraigo cultural en algunas regiones, es necesario reformar la ley para equilibrar el respeto a las tradiciones con los principios de bienestar animal. Se recomienda una revisión legislativa que contemple una protección inclusiva para todas las especies.
