description La hidatidosis es una infección zoonótica que puede invadir muchos órganos en el ser humano. Sin embargo, el tejido subcutáneo es el órgano menos afectado por esta enfermedad. Cuando aparece esta enfermedad, se observa poca sintomatología, lo que causa periodos prolongados de enfermedad asociados al diagnóstico tardío y una respuesta deficiente a la terapia antiparasitaria. La cordillera central del Perú es la zona geográfica con mayor prevalencia, presumiblemente debido a las medidas inadecuadas de saneamiento ambiental, la falta de educación y las medidas de control casi inexistentes de la enfermedad. Con el objetivo de discutir los problemas relacionados con la localización subcutánea y su probable fisiopatología, este estudio informa dos casos de hidatidosis subcutánea que aparecieron con lesiones tumorales con una evolución prolongada y que no afectaron al hígado ni a los pulmones y que finalmente se trataron mediante extirpación quirúrgica debido a la falta de respuesta al tratamiento con albendazol. © 2018, Instituto Nacional de Salud.
