description La investigación tuvo como objetivo principal determinar la relación entre la actividad física y el riesgo de caídas en adultos mayores del Centro Geriátrico Canitas, ubicado en el distrito de Yanahuara, Arequipa, durante el año 2023. Se desarrolló un estudio de enfoque observacional, tipo descriptivo - correlacional y diseño no experimental. Para la recolección de datos se emplearon dos instrumentos: el cuestionario IPAQ, versión larga, para evaluar la actividad física, y la escala de balance de Berg para medir el riesgo de caídas. La población estuvo conformada por todos los adultos mayores, de ambos sexos, residentes en el mencionado centro geriátrico, cuya cifra actual es de 60 personas. En cuanto a los resultados, se evidenció que el 50 % de los adultos mayores presenta un riesgo moderado de caídas, sin distinción de sexo. Esta condición se relaciona principalmente con la pérdida de masa muscular y habilidades como el equilibrio. Los factores de riesgo identificados son, en su mayoría, de carácter intrínseco, es decir, propios del envejecimiento, como la disminución de la agudeza auditiva y visual.
