Descripción
Sumario:Cancer is one of the most prevalent diseases globally (WHO, 2022). Having this disease implies that people suffer various physical and psychological complications, among the latter is the appearance of depressive symptoms (Ayalew et al., 2022). To cope with them, patients develop various types of coping strategies. The objective is to identify the relationship between the strategies used by women with gynecological cancer and depressive symptoms. A search was carried out following the indications of the PRISMA guide, in which the following databases were used: Scielo, APA PsycNet, and SpringerLink (Page et al., 2021). For the analysis, articles were selected that evaluated coping strategies and depressive symptoms in female patients with gynecological cancer (n = 10) and whose methodology used is mostly characterized by correlational and predictive analyses. In general, various coping strategies were presented that decrease depressive symptomatology in patients (such as acceptance and positive reinterpretation) and those that increase it (such as guilt). Future research should avoid notification bias by not reporting all the results, to increase the methodological quality of the articles.
