Para ello, ese recorrido se incia con José María Eguren y César Vallejo, nuestros poetas fundadores; continúa con los procesos del vanguardismo y el indigenismo de los años veinte, el desarrollo del surrealismo peruana y el estudio de la obra de Martín Adán, cuyos primeros textos se desarrollan en diálogo estrecho con las vanguardias, para proseguir con las promociones de poetas que aparecen hacia los años cuarenta, cincuenta y el nuevo proyecto modernizador inciado en los años sesenta. En este proceso consideramos luego el auge de los colectivos poéticos y su desdibujamiento a fines del siglo XX, la importancia de la perspectiva de género en la escritura de mujeres en los ochenta y las representaciones de la violencia política en la producción poética de las últimas décadas.
