Desde los inicios de la República, el Perú fue consciente de la importancia y la dimensión del Brasil en el contexto sudamericano y mundial. Prueba de ello, son los esfuerzos de nuestras autoridades por establecer relaciones diplomáticas con dicho Estado. Sin embargo, será recién en la segunda década del siglo XX, que se comienza a fortalecer y profundizar la relación, hasta que en el 2003 se logra, finalmente, materializar la alianza estratégica con el gigante sudamericano. Esta evolución positiva de nuestras relaciones con el Brasil fue producto de una visión realista y pragmática de nuestra política exterior, que internalizó los beneficios de una asociación profunda y diversificada con dicho país. |
