The present work outlines the two currents and their contents of significance from the outstanding contribution of prof. Ribas about the person name in the Roman tradition.Con una presencia normativa, tanto internacional como nacional, in crescendo desde finales de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, el enunciado dignidad de la persona humana nos aboca a cierta perplejidad, dado que se nos presenta en la lectura de dos planteamientos que, con identidad de expresión en el lenguaje, comportan, no obstante, significados radicalmente contrapuestos. El presente trabajo esboza las dos corrientes y sus contenidos de significación desde el aporte sobresaliente del profesor Ribas acerca del nombre persona en la tradición romana.
