Studies from 2018 were included, available in English or Spanish. Results: 37 articles were obtained; 16 duplicates were discarded. When reviewing the title and abstract, 11 were included for full text reading. Once analyzed, 4 were discarded, leaving 7 included in this study. The use of antibiotic prophylaxis has discrepancies regarding its effectiveness; studies affirm that its use is essential to reduce ORN. At the same time, it is said that there is no pathophysiological justification for its prophylactic use. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy was described to prevent and treat ORN, it is suggested as an adjuvant in surgery for irradiated patients, but its use prophylactically is not supported. Platelet-rich plasma does not have favorable results to reduce the incidence of ORN and the use of tocopherols plus antibiotics is recommended to facilitate healing. Conclusions: Current literature describes various treatments to prevent ORN, however, there is no standardized protocol in dosage or time nor sufficient evidence to determine which is most effective. More studies are required to decide which preventive treatment to use to prevent ORN.

Materiales y Métodos: Se realizó una revisión sistemática exploratoria de la literatura disponible sobre tratamientos preventivos para ORN utilizando los buscadores PubMed, EBSCO y Scopus. Se incluyeron estudios desde 2018, disponibles en inglés o español. Resultados: Se obtuvieron 37 artículos, fueron descartados 16 duplicados. Al revisar título y abstract 11 fueron incluidos para lectura de texto completo. Una vez analizados, cuatro fueron descartados, quedando siete incluidos en este estudio. El uso de profilaxis antibiótica posee discrepancia en cuanto a su efectividad, estudios afirman que su uso es fundamental para reducir la ORN. Paralelamente se dice que no hay justificación fisiopatológica para su uso profiláctico. Se describió la terapia de oxígeno hiperbárico para prevenir y tratar la ORN, se sugiere como adyuvante en cirugía para pacientes irradiados, pero no está respaldado su uso de forma profiláctica. El plasma rico en plaquetas no posee resultados favorables para disminuir la incidencia de la ORN y se aconseja el uso de tocoferoles más antibióticos para facilitar la cicatrización. Conclusiones: La literatura actual describe diversos tratamientos para prevenir la ORN, sin embargo, no hay un protocolo estandarizado en dosis o tiempo ni suficiente evidencia para determinar cuál es más eficaz.
