Se estima que hay casi 30 trillones de células bacterianas viviendo dentro de cada ser humano, y existe una diversidad genética 100 veces más alta de las bacterias, lo que codifica capacidades metabólicas que influyen en su ecosistema microbiano y en el sistema inmunológico especifico del tejido del huésped.
