It is proposed that in this text the narrator Ricardo Palma presents an allegory of the current Peruvian society and shows us how «rotten» people in our society, in other words, corrupted by hatred, dehumanized, try to understand and see things at their own convenience in order to take «advantage» of them, without previously considering the consequences that this may have on others. I will cover topics from politics and the government of the country, to cases of corruption, citizen insecurity and gender violence.Este artículo analizará la relación de la tradición «Cortar por lo sano» con la desmoralización de la sociedad peruana. Se propone que en este texto el tradicionista Ricardo Palma hace una alegoría de la actual sociedad peruana y nos muestra cómo las personas «gangrenadas» en nuestra sociedad, dicho en otras palabras, corrompidas por el odio, deshumanizadas, tratan de entender y ver las cosas a su conveniencia para sacarles así «provecho», sin fijarse previamente en las repercusiones que ello pueda tener en los demás.
