To characterize accident mortality in children under 15 years of age. Cross-sectional descriptive observational research was carried out, characterizing mortality due to accidents in children under 15 years of age in Villa Clara in the period from January 2015 to December 2019. The information was obtained from the national and provincial registry of deaths. Twenty-two accidents were counted, with a rate of 3.76 per 100 000 inhabitants; the most affected age group was 5 to 9 years old, with 9 deaths, and a rate of 2.32 per 10 000 inhabitants, male sex, with 3.20 deaths per 10 000 male children of those ages. In these five years, the municipalities that have suffered more than others the occurrence of fatal accidents in their children, were Cifuentes, Quemado de Güines and Manicaragua, where they were the months with the highest accident rate, from July to October. Among the types of accidents, those with the highest incidence were drowning, followed by burns, and among the types of injuries, drowning and cranial trauma.Los accidentes son eventos frecuentes en la edad pediátrica y constituyen un suceso complejo en el cual pueden intervenir, múltiples factores que están en relación con las características particulares de cada sociedad. Caracterizar la mortalidad por accidente en menores de 15 años. Se realizó una investigación observacional descriptiva de corte transversal, caracterizando la mortalidad por accidentes en menores de 15 años en Villa Clara en el período, enero 2015 a diciembre 2019. La información se obtuvo del registro nacional y provincial de fallecidos. Se contabilizaron 22 accidentes, con una tasa de 3,76 por cada 100 000 habitantes; el grupo de edad más afectado fue el de 5 a 9 años, con 9 defunciones, y una tasa de 2,32 por cada 10 000 habitantes, del sexo masculino, con 3,20 fallecidos por cada 10 000 niños varones de esas edades. En estos cinco años los municipios que han sufrido más que otros la ocurrencia de accidentes mortales en sus niños, fueron Cifuentes, Quemado de Güines y Manicaragua, donde resultaron ser los meses con mayor accidentalidad, desde julio a octubre.
