It is based on the evidence of pseudohermaphroditism and its perception in the tradition «The seven hairs of the devil». In addition, the consequent transformation of the perception of the hermaphrodite patient will be evaluated; and thus also the change in their treatment as well as in the medical interventions that vary depending on the relationship between the patient’s selfperception and the limits set by the World Health Organisation will be evaluated. Finally, a brief review will be made of the current state of the art of the basic criteria of the doctorpatient relationship when treating a person with this condition. En el presente artículo, teniendo como punto de partida la evidencia de pseudohermafroditismo y su percepción en la tradición «Los siete pelos del diablo», se analizará la influencia multidireccional y recíproca entre la medicina y la sociedad, a nivel lingüístico (terminológico), la cual dio origen a la clasificación y los principios actuales respecto al hermafroditismo. Asimismo, se evaluará la consecuente transformación de la percepción del paciente hermafrodita y, por ende, el cambio en su trato, así como en las intervenciones médicas que varían dependiendo de la relación entre la autopercepción del paciente y los límites establecidos por la Organización Mundial de la Salud.
