We start by describing the characteristics of the enterprises that led the textile industry before 1929. We then suggest that the 1929 crisis and the increase in Japanese imports led textile entrepreneurs to mobilize their capacity to influence the government in order to protect their companies, something that had not occurred in previous periods.El presente artículo analiza el impacto de la crisis de 1929 y de la fuerte importación de textiles japoneses en el sector de textiles de algodón peruano en la década de 1930, y cómo las empresas líderes del sector enfrentaron esta situación mediante la gestión de medidas de protección ante el Gobierno. Para comprenderlo, primero se contextualiza presentando las características de las empresas que lideraban la industria textil antes de 1929.
