El estudio busca comprender cómo el muralismo contribuye a la construcción de identidad en el espacio público limeño. La metodología cualitativa incluyó la revisión documental, el análisis fotográfico y la observación etnográfica. La investigación se centró en la conceptualización del espacio público desde perspectivas arquitectónicas, antropológicas, sociológicas y artísticas. El análisis de los murales se estructuró en tablas, considerando niveles preiconográficos, iconográficos e iconológicos, junto con datos contextuales e interpretaciones connotativas. Los resultados muestran que los murales comunitarios en Lima no solo embellecen, sino que también actúan como agentes de transformación social. Generan cambios en la percepción de los habitantes, fortaleciendo el sentido de pertenencia y promoviendo valores comunitarios. La participación comunitaria en la creación de murales es clave para el empoderamiento ciudadano y el fortalecimiento de redes sociales. Además, los murales han mejorado la percepción de seguridad y bienestar en los barrios, transformando espacios deteriorados en lugares de encuentro y expresión.
