Prospective study, in which 289 adult residents of the Callao region were evaluated, confirmatory and post ART treatment measurements were performed. For the difference of means, Student’s T-test for paired samples was calculated, considering p<0.05 as statistical significant.  People who received ART showed a significant decrease in VL values and an increase in CD4+. There have been a successful disease management and control of the HIV-infected population in Callao.El diagnóstico del virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana (VIH) es clave para el inicio de la terapia antirretroviral (TAR). Los valores de carga viral (CV) y otros componentes inmunológicos son esenciales para el seguimiento y pronóstico de las personas con VIH. El objetivo del estudio fue evaluar a pacientes con diagnóstico confirmatorio de VIH residentes en la región Callao. Estudio prospectivo, en el cual se evaluaron 289 adultos residentes de la región Callao, se realizaron mediciones confirmatorias y post tratamiento TAR. Para la diferencia de medias se calculó la prueba T de Student para muestras pareadas, considerando p<0,05 como estadísticamente significativo.  Las personas que recibieron TAR mostraron una disminución significativa de los valores de VL y un aumento de CD4+.
