description Abstract This research analyses the problems of translating proper names in two French texts of children's literature: Jefferson and La Fée Électricité. The aim is to put forward proposals for the translation into Spanish of proper names referring to historical and fictional characters based on the strategies and techniques of Mayoral and Muñoz (1997) and Hurtado (2001). For this purpose, the state of the art on children's literature and rhetorical resources are analysed; subsequently, the concept of proper names is explained and the case studies, the strategies and techniques adopted for each of them as well as the proposed solutions for the examples extracted are described. From this, the research concludes that proper names constitute a real translation problem for which different solutions have been proposed according to their nature.

El objetivo es plantear propuestas de traducción al español de los nombres propios que se refieren a los personajes históricos y ficticios con base en las estrategias y técnicas de Mayoral y Muñoz (1997) y Hurtado (2001). Para ello se analiza el estado de la cuestión sobre la literatura infantil y los recursos retóricos; posteriormente se explica el concepto de nombre propio y se describen los estudios de caso, las estrategias y técnicas adoptadas para cada uno de ellos así como las propuestas de solución de los ejemplos extraídos. A partir de ello, la investigación concluye que los nombres propios constituyen un verdadero problema de traducción para lo cual se han propuesto distintas soluciones según su naturaleza.Esta investigação analisa os problemas de tradução de nomes próprios em dois textos franceses de literatura infantil: Jefferson e La Fée Électricité. O objectivo é apresentar propostas para a tradução para espanhol de nomes próprios referentes a personagens históricos e fictícios baseados nas estratégias e técnicas de Mayoral e Muñoz (1997) e Hurtado (2001). Para este efeito, analisa-se o estado da arte da literatura infantil e dos recursos retóricos; posteriormente, explica-se o conceito de nomes próprios e descrevem-se os estudos de caso, as estratégias e técnicas adoptadas para cada um deles, bem como as soluções propostas para os exemplos extraídos.
