In this essay we discuss the presence of the hummingbird in the Nasca iconography, its possible symbolic meaning, as well as the possible reasons for its exclusion in later Nasca phases.Nasca es una de las pocas culturas de los Andes centrales que representó el colibrí en su iconografía. Esto sucedió especialmente durante las fases tempranas del desarrollo nasca, cuando tanto las vajillas como los tejidos a menudo representan imágenes del colibrí. Posterior a las fases tempranas, el colibrí desaparece y no volvió a ser representado.
