This article addresses the scope and limitations of this experience of citizen participation for the social appropriation and sustainability of the Necropolis of Ancón, as well as the motivation and commitment of the participating multilevel actors through a participant research methodology that uses documentary review and interviews. The article reaffirms the need for citizen participation to recover archaeological sites through public management that involves the population not only as beneficiaries of the social use, but also promotes their leading role in decision-making.El Ministerio de Cultura implementó entre los años 2017-2020 por primera vez un mecanismo de participación ciudadana en Ancón para congregar en un espacio de diálogo a actores institucionales con actores comunitarios del distrito y desarrollar actividades de manera colaborativa en favor de la zona arqueológica Necrópolis de Ancón, distrito de Ancón, Lima-Perú. En el presente artículo se aborda los alcances y limitaciones de esta experiencia de participación ciudadana para la apropiación social y sostenibilidad de la Necrópolis de Ancón, así también conoceremos la motivación y compromiso de los actores multinivel participantes mediante una metodología de investigación participante que emplea la revisión documental y entrevistas.
