Carrión" and other health care centers of Callao, Peru, as part of the Epiderniologic Surveillance of the Acute Diarrheic Diseases and Cholera Programme,was assessed by disc-difusion method. RESULTS: Resistance patterns obtained were the following: 24,7% to ampicillin, 18,7% to tetracyclin, 8% to cotrirnoxazol, 7,5% to cephalotin, 5% to cloramphenicol, 2,25% to furazolidone, 1 % to nalidixic acid, 0,5% to norfloxacin and no resistance was observed to ciprofioxacin. It was also found 17,3% of cases with resistance to 2 or more antimicrobial agents. CONCLUSIONS: Antimicrobial resistance patterns of Vibrio cholerae are increasing in last years. Quinolones are still good therapeutic options in particular resistance cases.OBJETIVOS: Determinar los niveles actuales de resistencia in vitro del Vibrio cholerae a ciertos agentes antimicrobianos. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: Se estudió la resistencia in vitro por el método de disco-difusión en 225 cepas de Vibrio cholerae 01 aisladas a partir de coprocultivos tomados a pacientes del Hospital Daniel A. Carrión y otros establecimientos de salud del Callao, como parte de la Vigilancia Epiderniólógica del Programa de Enfermedad Diarreica Aguda y Cólera. RESULTADOS: Se obtuvo una resistencia promedio total de 24,7% a Ampicilina, 18,7% a Tetraciclina, 8% a Cotrimoxazol, 7,5% a Cefalotina, 5% a Cloramfenícol, 2,25% a Furazolidona, 1% a Ácido Nalidíxico, 0,5% a Norfloxacino y no se observó resistencia a Ciprofioxacino. Se encontró además 17,3% de resistencia a 2 ó más antimicrobianos, siendo más frecuente la resistencia a 2 agentes. CONCLUSIONES: Observamos un porcentaje mayor de resistencia antimicrobiana del Vibrio cholerae 01 respecto a años anteriores, particularmente a Ampicilina y Tetraciclina.
