description Objective: The research work is aimed at demonstrating that Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) contribute to the academic development of the public universities of Metropolitan Lima and Callao, with the aim of improving students' skills and knowledge in order to that in the future be competitive in their professional and work performance. Method: The type of research is descriptive and applicative, the non-experimental and transectional design was used, since a single period of time was analyzed. Likewise, the research work is correlational because there is a relation between the variables that were studied. The data were obtained from the surveys carried out on students and teachers of the different Public Universities of Metropolitan Lima and Callao, whose total sample corresponds to 246 people. Results: The reliability of the instrument was measured through the Cronbach's Alpha index whose value is 0.907, being a highly reliable value. The results expressed that information and communication technologies are influenced to the academic development of the public universities of Metropolitan Lima and Callao. Conclusions: It is concluded that information and communication technologies are directly related to the academic development of the public universities of Metropolitan Lima and Callao. The same ones that were validated with statistical tests applied.

The same ones that were validated with statistical tests applied.Objetivo: El trabajo de investigación está orientado a demostrar que las Tecnologías de Información y Comunicación (TIC) contribuyen en el desarrollo académico de las universidades públicas de Lima Metropolitana y Callao, con el objetivo de mejorar las competencias y conocimientos de los estudiantes a fin de que en el futuro sean competitivos en su desempeño profesional y laboral. Método: El tipo de investigación es descriptivo y aplicativo, se empleó el diseño no experimental y transeccional, puesto que se analizó un periodo único de tiempo. Así mismo, el trabajo de investigación es correlacional debido a que existe relación entre las variables que fueron objeto de estudio. Los datos fueron obtenidos de las encuestas realizadas a estudiantes y docentes de las diferentes universidades Públicas de Lima Metropolitana y Callao, cuya muestra total corresponde a 246 personas. Resultados: Se midió la fiabilidad del instrumento a través del índice de Alpha de Cronbach cuyo valor es de 0,907, siendo un valor altamente confiable. Los resultados expresaron que las tecnologías de información y comunicación inciden con el desarrollo académico de las universidades públicas de Lima Metropolitana y Callao. Conclusiones: Se concluye que las tecnologías de información y comunicación se relacionan directamente con el desarrollo académico de las universidades públicas de Lima Metropolitana y Callao.
