This attitude of suspicion was translated into the use of the Marxian notion of “ideology” as a tool for criticizing the colonial / imperialist orientation of the social sciences. Which suggests and reveals a certain “thematic unity” linked to a type of sociology that we call the “sociology of suspicion”. This sociology has a preparatory character and was developed between 1962 and 1965.
