The conceptual metaphors recorded are structural, these refer to the negative effects of the pandemic in metaphorical terms linked to war in order to hide the true meaning that they have the loss of life, unemployment. War-related metonymies are also recorded. The study is relevant as it shows the linguistic resources of language using metaphors.Este es un estudio preliminar sobre las metáforas y metonimias conceptuales de la guerra registradas en el discurso del presidente del Perú Martín Vizcarra durante la pandemia covid-19. Las metáforas conceptuales registradas son estructurales, estas refieren a los efectos negativos de la pandemia en términos metafóricos vinculados con la guerra con el fin de ocultar el verdadero sentido que tienen la pérdida de vidas, el desempleo. También se registran metonimias relacionadas con la guerra.
