Bacterial culture was performed on Blood Agar and MacConkey Agar and identification was done using Gram staining and biochemical tests. The test for bacterial sensitivity and resistance to antibiotics was performed using the Kirby-Bauer protocol. Gram-positive pathogens were isolated: Staphylococcus spp (84.1%) and Streptococcus spp (15.9%), and Gram-negative pathogens: Escherichia spp (73.8%) and Klebsiella spp (26.2%). Sensitivity to gentamicin was 100% for all isolates, and to tetracycline 80.2%, while resistance was evident to penicillin with 65.4%.El objetivo del estudio fue valorar la resistencia de bacterias aisladas de mastitis subclínica de vacas Holstein mestizas de la Comunidad Tunshi San Nicolás, Chimborazo, Ecuador. Se analizó la leche de los cuatro cuartos mamarios de 90 vacas en lactación mediante la prueba diagnóstica de California Mastitis Test (CMT). Cuarenta vacas resultaron con al menos un cuarto positivo. El cultivo bacteriano se realizó en Agar Sangre y Agar MacConkey y la identificación mediante tinción Gram y pruebas bioquímicas. La prueba de sensibilidad y resistencia bacteriana a los antibióticos se efectuó empleando el protocolo Kirby-Bauer. Se aislaron patógenos gram positivos: Staphylococcus spp. (84.1%) y Streptococcus spp (15.9%), y gram negativos: Escherichia spp (73.8%) y Klebsiella spp (26.2%).
