However, images are not there to be a visual aid to understand the plot but to be a part of it, in other words, the real characters’ experiences are reflected in the paintings. The real characters prolong their erotic phantasy in the paintings, and breathe life into the characters painted. Under the concepts of cohesion and coherence from text linguistics, we explain that text and textile (canvas) in the novel are linked together and form a coherent plot.La novela erótica Elogio de la madrastra, de Mario Vargas Llosa (1998), consta de catorce capítulos y un epílogo. Seis de los capítulos abren con cuadros de artistas clásicos (cuatro de ellos de los siglos XV al XVI, y dos del XX). Sin embargo, las imágenes no constituyen una ayuda visual para entender la trama, sino que forman parte de ella; es decir, las situaciones vividas por los personajes se reflejan en las pinturas. Los personajes prolongan su fantasía erótica en los cuadros y los personajes de los cuadros cobran vida. A través de los conceptos de cohesión y coherencia de la lingüística del texto, explicamos que lo textual y lo textil (lienzo) en la novela se cohesionan y forman una trama coherente.O romance erótico Elogio de la madrastra, de Mario Vargas Llosa (1998), consta de catorze capítulos e um epílogo. Seis dos capítulos iniciam com quadros de artistas clássicos (quatro deles dos séculos XV ao XVI, e dois do XX). No entanto, as imagens não constituem um apoio visual para entender a trama, mas sim formam parte dela; isto é, as situações vividas pelas personagens se refletem nas pinturas. As personagens prolongam sua fantasia erótica nos quadros e as personagens dos quadros ganham vida.
