description Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of Caesalpinia spinosa (tara) in different concentrations on Lactobacillus acidophilus. Material and methods: A seeding of the strain ATCC® 4356 (Lactobacillus acidophilus), was activated in thioglycolate broth in the 9 % CO anaerobic 2 chamber, where it was incubated at 37 °C for 24 hours. Then, the preparation was done in plates of Agar rogosa, it was expected to solidify and proceeded to do the seeding by surface with a micropipette. 1 ml of the strain reactivated in thioglycolate broth was taken and poured and spread with the digralsky spatula on the surface of the agar. Five 5 mm sensidisks were placed at five separate points in the Petri dish, each sensitivity was embedded with 30 microlitres with each control substance and ethanolic extract of Caesalpinia espinosa (tare), 100 % 60 % 40 % for each substance, 5 samples were used; plates were then incubated in the anaerobic chamber at 9 % CO , 37 °C, measures were 2 subsequently taken at 24 and 48 of the resulting inhibitory halo. Five study groups were formed, the first three with Caesalpinia spinosa in their different concentrations, the fourth was the 2 % Chlorhexidine Gluconate and the fifth corresponded to Amoxicillin. Results: Caesalpinia spinosa (tara) at the concentration of 100 % was the best, compared to the others studied (40 and 60 %), at 24 and 48 hours of exposure. The average measurement of the inhibitory halo of Caesalpinia spinosa at 100% was higher than that formed by chlorhexidine gluconate, Student T was applied (p < 0,05) and statistically significant difference was found between data obtained for different substances. Caesalpinia spinosa (tara) at 100 % is as competitive as 2 % Chlorhexidine Gluconate at 24 and 48 hours; but, it is lower compared to amoxicillin at these two times. Conclusion: Caesalpinia spinosa, showed antibacterial effect against Lactobacillus acidophilus, its measures were varied and in the majority superior to the Gluconate of chlorhexidine.

Material y métodos: Se realizó una siembra de la cepa ATCC® 4356 (Lactobacillus acidophilus), fue activada en caldo tioglicolato en la cámara de anaerobiosis al 9 % CO , donde se incubó a 37 °C 2 durante 24 horas. Luego, la preparación se realizó en placas de Agar rogosa, se esperó a que solidifique y se procedió hacer la siembra por superficie con una micropipeta. Se tomó 1 ml de la cepa reactivada en caldo tioglicolato se vertió y se esparció con la espátula de digralsky sobre la superficie del agar. Se colocó 5 sensidiscos de 5 mm en cinco puntos separados en la placa Petri, cada sensidiscos fue embebido con 30 microlitros con cada sustancia de control y extracto etanólico de Caesalpinia spinosa (tara) al 100 %, 60 %, 40 %, para cada sustancia se utilizó 5 muestras; luego se incubó las placas en la cámara de anaerobiosis al 9 % CO , 37 °C, posteriormente 2 se tomó medidas a las 24 y 48 del halo inhibitorio resultante. Se conformaron cinco grupos de estudio, los tres primeros con la Caesalpinia spinosa en sus diferentes concentraciones, el cuarto fue el gluconato de clorhexidina al 2 % y el quintocorrespondió a la Amoxicilina. Resultados: La Caesalpinia spinosa (tara) a la concentración del 100 % fue la mejor, respecto a las otras estudiadas (40 y 60 %), a las 24 y 48 horas de su exposición. El promedio de la medida del halo inhibitorio de la Caesalpinia spinosa al 100 % resultó mayor que el formado por el gluconato de clorhexidina. Se aplicó T de Student (p < 0,05) y se encontró diferencia estadísticamente significativa entre datos obtenidos para distintas sustancias. La Caesalpinia spinosa (tara) al 100 % es igual de competitiva que el gluconato de clorhexidina al 2 %, a las 24 y 48 horas; pero, es menor frente a la amoxicilina en estos dos tiempos. Conclusiones: La Caesalpinia spinosa, demostró tener efecto antibacteriano frente al Lactobacillus acidophilus, sus medidas fueron variadas y en la mayoría superiores al gluconato de clorhexidina.Objetivo: Avaliar a eficácia da Caesalpinia spinosa (tara) em diferentes concentrações no Lactobacillus acidophilus. Material e métodos: A estirpe ATCC® 4356 (Lactobacillus acidophilus) foi semeada e ativada em caldo tioglicolato na câmara de anaerobiose a 9 % CO , onde foi 2 incubado a 37 °C durante 24 horas. Em seguida, a preparação foi realizada em placas de Agar Rogosa, esperou-se para solidificar e procedeuse à semeadura por superfície com uma micropipeta. Recolheu-se 1 ml da estirpe reativada em caldo tioglicolato e derramou-se e espalhou-se com a espátula de digralsky sobre a superfície do ágar. Foram colocados 5 sensores de 5 mm em cinco pontos separados na placa de Petri, cada sensor foi embebido com 30 microlitros com cada substância de controlo e extracto etanolico de Caesalpinia espinhosa (tara) a 100 %, 60 %, 40 %, para cada substância foram utilizadas 5 amostras; Em seguida, asplacas for amincubadas nacâmarade anaerobiose a 9 % CO , 37 °C, posteriormente 2 foram tomadas medidas às 24 e 48 do halo inibitório resultante. Formaram-se cinco grupos de estudo, os três primeiros com a Caesalpinia spinosa nas suas diferentes concentrações, o quarto foi o gluconato de clorhexidina a 2 % e o quinto foi o Amoxicilina. Resultados: A Caesalpinia spinosa (tara) à concentração de 100 % foi a melhor, em comparação com as outras estudadas (40 e 60 %), às 24 e 48 horas da sua exposição. A média da medição do halo inibitório da Caesalpinia spinosa a 100 % foi superior à do gluconato de clorhexidina, aplicou-se T de Student (p < 0,05) e encontrou-se diferença estatisticamente significativa entre dados obtidos para diferentes substâncias. A Caesalpinia spinosa (tara) a 100 % é tão competitiva como o gluconato de clorhexidina a 2 %, às 24 e 48 horas, mas é inferior face à amoxicilina nestes dois tempos.
