Among her works, in which she links sociology, politics, history and literature, stands out "El corazón helado", a novel that narrates the social conflict in Spain, still unresolved, as a consequence of the coup d'état against the Republican government, in 1936. All of this is narrated, in literary terms, in the romance between Álvaro Carrión and Raquel Fernández. He, Álvaro, son of an adventurer who enlisted in the Spanish detachment, "Blue Division", to support Hitler in the invasion of the Soviet Union and who, like many Francoists in the post-war period, made a great fortune by appropriating the goods and properties of Republican families. She, Raquel, granddaughter of republicans vexed by Franco's regime and refugees in France, country where they would fight against Nazism in World War II.Almudena Grandes (1960 -2021) reconocida escritora española, merecedora del Premio Nacional de Narrativa (2018) nos ha legado extraordinarias obras de ficción que incluyen historias reales en base a un gran trabajo de documentación. Entre sus obras, en las que vincula sociología, política, historia y literatura, destaca “El corazón helado”, novela que narra el conflicto social en España, no resuelto aún, como consecuencia del golpe de estado contra el gobierno republicano, en 1936. Todo este engranaje en narrado, literariamente, en el romance entre Álvaro Carrión y Raquel Fernández. Él, Álvaro, hijo de un aventurero que se alistó en el destacamento español, “División Azul”, para apoyar a Hitler en la invasión a la Unión Soviética y que, como muchos franquistas en la posguerra, se hiciera de una gran fortuna apropiándose de los bienes y propiedades de familias republicanas.
