Gender studies workshop of the CUValles of the University of Guadalajara as a space for dialogue with young women

 The people of the Valles Region and specifically Ameca, Jalisco, México is a traditional society, apparently peaceful. However, in 2016 the Government of Jalisco State issued an Alert for Gender Violence against Women (AVGM), currently in force (https://www.jalisco.gob. mx/es/gobierno/ communications/alert-of-gender-violence-against-women, February 2016, paragraph 5). In addition to the above, there are factors such as gender inequality and the presence of cultural factors that promote stereotyped gender roles, found in the Diagnosis of Violence Against Women in Ameca (Municipal Institute for Women of Ameca -IMMA-, 2019 ) and the Situational Diagnosis of Women in Ameca (IMMA, 2019). With with the objective of raising awareness about the reality of violence experienced by women in Ameca, the need to increase their safety and to build new meanings a “Gender Studies Workshop for Women” was carried out a workshop. It consisted of ten work sessions implemented in virtual modality in which 29 women from the CUValles community participated integrated into two groups. Information about gender issues was provided and there was an exchange of opinions, experiences and perceptions between them. To obtain and record the information, we used Research-Action-Participatory (IAP), systematization and analysis of the process.
