Simulations and experimental tests were carried out to validate the operation of the system under various conditions. The cycloconverter can effectively modify the 60Hz input frequency, providing adjustable and stable output frequencies for resistive loads. The results show experimental frequencies very close to those calculated: for a submultiple of 2, 29.976 Hz; submultiple of 3, 20 Hz; submultiple of 4, 15Hz, submultiple of 5, 11.99 Hz; and for a submultiple of 6.10 Hz. The minimum variations between the simulated and experimentally obtained frequencies are due to tolerance factors of the electronic components. This proposed method is of practical importance to improve the application level of cycloconverter in speed control of AC drives.Este artículo se desarrolló por la necesidad de disponer de potencia eléctrica con frecuencias ajustables, diferente a la suministrada por la red eléctrica convencional, para aplicaciones industriales y de control de motores. El cicloconvertidor implementado consta de etapa de potencia con dispositivos SCRs y optoacopladores, etapa de control con microcontrolador para la gestión de las señales de disparo de los semiconductores de potencia. Se realizaron simulaciones y pruebas experimentales para validar el funcionamiento del sistema bajo diversas condiciones. El cicloconvertidor puede modificar eficazmente la frecuencia de entrada de 60 Hz, proporcionando frecuencias de salida ajustables y estables para cargas resistivas. Los resultados muestran frecuencias experimentales muy cercanas a las calculadas: para un submúltiplo de 2, 29.976 Hz; submúltiplo de 3, 20 Hz; submúltiplo de 4, 15Hz, submúltiplo de 5, 11.99 Hz; y para un submúltiplo de 6,10 Hz. Las variaciones mínimas entre las frecuencias simuladas y experimental se deben a factores de tolerancia de los componentes electrónicos.
