Sumario:The historical legacy of Hermilio Valdizán in Peruvian medicine is remarkable. His humanistic approach is internationally recognized, as is his contribution to modern psychiatry. Through his numerous works, Valdizán explored topics such as the history of medicine in Perú, the treatment of the mentally ill during colonial times, as well as the evolution of the city of Lima over time. His untimely death left a great void in the field of medicine, but his legacy lives on as a significant influence on the practice and research of psychiatry in Perú.
