Sumario:The objective of the study was to determine the impact of public investment projects in the economic development of the District of Santa Maria of the Valle. It was an observational cross-sectional study descriptive, evaluative and retroprospectivo; the sampling was probabilistic, cluster; the evaluation sheet was used to assess the condition of public investment projects, and the interview guide to collect information from the perception of the population about the benefits of public investment projects. For the verification of the hypothesis was used, try Chi-square of Pearson, to find the difference of proportions of healthy lifestyles and the test t to perform the comparison of averages: students enrolled, cases of general morbidity, harvested acres, agricultural production and the gross value of production. The results showed that public investment projects in: education do not favour the reduction of illiteracy; Health contribute favorably to the improvement of the conditions of health, basic sanitation to improve lifestyles; and road projects contribute to the increase in agricultural activities and trade. In conclusion: public investment projects contribute to the economic development of the District of Santa María of the Valle-Huanuco.
