It was then argued that the concept of "spirit" as a representation of the human essence is a fiction that hinders the development of moral and academic competencies, in addition to hindering interculturality due to the dogmatic influence of Catholicism. Subsequently, the idea of God was refuted and agnosticism was proposed as the most appropriate position when referring to something transcendental. Finally, it was suggested that philosophy and ethics can fill the void left by religious spiritualism more appropriately and correctly in humanistic educational philosophy. In this article we have used the analytical hermeneutic methodology for a better understanding of the topic.El presente artículo analizó en primera parte la influencia del espiritualismo religioso en la educación peruana, desde antes de la independencia hasta la actualidad. Posteriormente se definió al humanismo educativo como una filosofía que busca la formación integral del ser humano en aspectos académicos y morales. Después se argumentó que el concepto de "espíritu" como representación de la esencia humana es una ficción que obstaculiza el desarrollo de competencias morales y académicas, además de dificultar la interculturalidad debido a la influencia dogmática del catolicismo. Ulteriormente se refutó la idea de Dios y se propone el agnosticismo como la postura más adecuada al referirse a algo trascendental. Por último, Se sugirió que la filosofía y la ética pueden llenar el vacío dejado por el espiritualismo religioso de manera más apropiada y correcta en la filosofía educativa humanista.
