Anacanthorus Mizelle & Price, 1965 is the most diverse genus of Dactylogyridae and is characterized by the absence of anchors and bars in the haptor. Members of Anacanthorus are found parasitizing until now only fishes belonging to order Characiformes. Specimens of Brycon pesu Müller & Troschel, 1845 and Caenotropus labyrinthicus (Kner, 1858) were collected from Tocantins River, Brazil and had their gills removed and individualized in bottles containing water heated to (~65ºC), to relax and release the parasites, and ethanol absolute was increased to reach the concentration of 70%. The parasites found were collected and mounted in Hoyer´s medium. A new species of Anacanthorus, A. itaueirasensis sp. nov., is described from Brycon pesu, presenting the characteristics of Anacanthorus species parasitic on bryconids, as morphology of the copulatory complex, composed of a tubular MCO and membranous accessory piece, hooks with a bulbous proximal part of the hook and a poorly developed thumb. A new record for Anacanthorus simpliciphallus Silva, Cohen, Costa & Justo, 2024 and the comparative measurements are presented, increasing the knowledge of parasite fauna from fishes of Tocantins-Araguaia Basin. |

Anacanthorus Mizelle & Price, 1965 é o gênero mais diverso de Dactylogyridae e é caracterizado pela ausência de âncoras e barras no haptor. Membros de Anacanthorus são encontrados parasitando até agora apenas peixes pertencentes à ordem Characiformes. Espécimes de Brycon pesu Müller & Troschel, 1845 e Caenotropus labyrinthicus (Kner, 1858) foram coletados no Rio Tocantins, Brasil, e tiveram suas brânquias removidas e individualizadas em garrafas contendo água aquecida a (~65 °C), para relaxar e liberar os parasitas, e o etanol absoluto foi aumentado para atingir a concentração de 70%. Os parasitas encontrados foram coletados e montados em meio de Hoyer. Uma nova espécie de Anacanthorus, A. itaueirasensis sp. nov., é descrito a partir de Brycon pesu, apresentando as características de espécies de Anacanthorus parasitas de briconídeos, como a morfologia do complexo copulador, composto por um OCM tubular e peça acessória membranosa, anzóis com parte proximal bulbosa e polegar pouco desenvolvido. Um novo registro para Anacanthorus simpliciphallus Silva, Cohen, Costa & Justo, 2024 e as medições comparativas são apresentados, aumentando o conhecimento da fauna parasitária de peixes da Bacia Tocantins-Araguaia.
