Th e objective of this research was to propose in situ activities in the relict of xeromorphic scrubland (cuabal) that contributed to the knowledge of biological diversity by the students of the 7th grade of the “Julio Pino Machado” Urban Basic Secondary School located in the city of Santa Clara, Villa Clara, Cuba. In the research, methods of information gathering and processing of the information gathered were used, such as analysis of documents, observation, survey, pedagogical test, historical-logical, analytical-synthetic, and deductive-demonstrative. Th e proposal was submitted to the criteria of experts who evaluated it as pertinent. Th e sample consisted of 20 students from the 7th-grade group 2 of the study center, which constitutes the enrollment of the school group. Th e visits to the study area were carried out in diff erent seasons of the year during the year 2022. After carrying out the planned activities, the students acquired more knowledge of the local biota. It is concluded that this type of activity allows schoolchildren to acquire knowledge about biological diversity.
