The descriptions recorded that 65 countries were established as type locality with India, Brazil, Australia and China being the countries with higher proportion of 46 described species (9.62 % of total), 41 (8.58%), 31 (6.49%) and 30 (6.28 %), respectively. This description was provided by 207 taxonomists placed as first author in the articles (107 for Nematoda and 100 for Platyhelminthes) with an average rate for 2012 of 2.24 species of Nematoda per first author and 1.41 per item; while Platyhelminthes the average rate in 2012 was 2.38 per author and 1.79 per article. Additionally the results for related taxa are briefly presented.A partir de los registros considerados en el presente trabajo, se estableció que en 2012 se describieron 478 nuevas especies de Nematoda y Platyhelminthes, con 240 y 238 especies, respectivamente. El trabajo de descripción de nuevas especies se realizó en 303 artículos publicados en 63 revistas científicas de todo el mundo. En las descripciones se registró que 65 países se establecieron como localidad tipo, siendo la India, Brasil, Australia y China los países con mayor aporte a especies descritas con 46 (9,62% del total), 41 especies (8,58%), 31 (6,49%) y 30 (6,28%), respectivamente. Esta descripción corrió a cargo de 207 taxónomos situados como primer autor en los artículos (107 para Nematoda y 100 para Platyhelminthes), cifras que permiten establecer una tasa promedio para 2012 de 2,24 especies de Nematoda por primer autor y 1,41 por artículo; mientras que para Platyhelminthes la tasa promedio en 2012 fue de 2,38 especies por autor y 1,79 por artículo.
