The Parental - Adolescent Communication Scale (ECPA) of Barnes and Olson and the Family Conflict Questionnaire of Fuentes, Motrico and Bersabe were applied. The results indicated that parent - adolescent communication correlates significantly (p <0.05) and inverse with family conflicts. It is concluded that the greater the communication between parents and adolescents, the lower will be the family conflicts in the participants of the research.La investigación tuvo por objetivo determinar la relación entre comunicación padres - adolescente y conflictos familiares en una muestra conformada por 353 escolares de 3ro a 5to de secundaria, de ambos sexos con edades oscilantes entre 14 a 17 años, procedentes de dos instituciones educativas públicas ubicadas en los distritos de Comas y San Juan de Lurigancho. Se aplicó la Escala de Comunicación Padres - Adolescente (ECPA) de Barnes y Olson y el Cuestionario de Conflictos Familiares de Fuentes, Motrico y Bersabé. Los resultados señalaron que la comunicación padres - adolescente se correlaciona de forma significativa (p<0.05) e inversa con los conflictos familiares. Se concluye que, a mayor comunicación padres – adolescente, menores serán los conflictos familiares en los participantes de la investigación.
